What is a voicebot?
A voicebot is an AI system that understands and answers spoken language on the phone. It takes calls, recognises the request and responds in natural language – without a human having to step in.
Unlike a classic voice menu (IVR) that only knows fixed key options, a voicebot understands freely phrased sentences. It converts speech to text (speech-to-text), processes the request with a language model and replies again as a natural voice (text-to-speech).
In business use a voicebot takes appointments, reservations or service enquiries, answers recurring questions and passes the important parts to the team. Empfango is such a voicebot – GDPR-compliant and operated on EU servers.
